SERVER KNOWLEDGE BASE

Resolve key technical questions before choosing a server.

Use this guide to evaluate resources, network and operations. Product pages show the actual available configuration.

What is the difference between VPS and dedicated servers?

A VPS shares a physical host through virtualization and is suited to flexible workloads and lower starting cost. A dedicated server provides exclusive hardware for sustained high load or fixed specifications.

How should I choose CPU, RAM and storage?

CPU affects concurrent compute, RAM affects cache and database workload, and storage capacity and I/O affect files and databases. Plan for sustained load and leave room for growth.

Can latency from China to Los Angeles be guaranteed?

No fixed latency can be guaranteed. Routes vary by city, carrier, time and congestion. Test 23.225.152.1 from the target network at different times.

What does bandwidth mean?

Bandwidth is the data rate available at a given time, such as 100Mbps. It is especially important for downloads, video, file delivery and high-concurrency APIs.

How can I improve server security?

Use strong passwords or SSH keys, restrict management-port sources, disable unused services, apply updates, maintain backups and review unusual logins and resource usage.

Should I maintain my own backups?

Yes. Maintain and test backups of website files, databases, configuration and keys. A single server should not be the only copy of business data.
